Biography

Birth	abt 1730	Frances "Fanny" Beale was born abt 1730 in South Carolina. Several sources have her birth year as about 1747. That makes no sense if the birth date of her youngest son is correct. The about 1730 date fits better with other events in her life.¹
Marriage	abt 1750	James Griffin, Sr, and she were married abt 1750 in Ninety-Six District, South Carolina. Date is approximate based on earliest known birth year of her children.²
Marriage	aft 1782	Charles Ashley Cooper and she were married aft 1782 at - 2nd marriage of Fanny Beale.²
Death	abt 1799	She died abt 1799 in Abbeville, South Carolina.^2,3,1

Military	1779	She served in the military providing provisions and driving wagon in 1779. She continued to provide provisions and services after her husband's death and drew pay for services. From records "Mrs. Fanny Griffin, widow, paid 120 pounds & 6 pence 3 farthing sterling" for driving wagon & provisions in 1779. Her service is recognized by the DAR.^5,6,3,7

Military	bet 1781 and 1782	He served in the military as Continental Soldier in 3rd Regt commanded by Col William Thomson and was recognized for providing provisions for the Patriots bet 1781 and 1782. One source says he was a Captain and Scout. He received 200 acres for his service in the 3rd Regiment. He was compensated for supplying 20 bushels of corn for the militia & for a horse lost in public service.^2,1
