At the Burlington Monthly Meeting on 6 Aug 1753 Zebulon Gaunt requested certificates of removal for sons Israel and Zebulon Jr to move to the New Garden Meeting in Orange County, North Carolina. On 3 Sep 1753 the certificates were approved and signed.11

Religion29 Jul 1758He was Quaker at New Garden Meeting and discharged for marrying out of unity on 29 Jul 1758. At the 30 Apr 1757 Quaker New Garden Monthly Meeting it was reported that Israel Gaunt had a young widow woman keeping house for him. Men were appointed to tell him to refrain from this practice. At 24 Jun 1758 meeting it was reported that the woman was still living with him and he was claiming they were married. The men were ordered to get testimony against him for next meeting. On 29 Jul 1758 the testimony was presented and ordered to be read at the Deep River Meeting. At the 26 Aug 1758 New Garden Meeting the man reported he had read the testimony against Israel as ordered. No other mention was made about it.14,15

Miscbet 1775 and 1783He and his wife Hannah and his daughter Hannah were attacked by men who served with Tory Bloody Bill Cunningham and tried to rob them during the Revolutionary War. The daughter Hannah was a large woman who threw man with gun to ground enabling her father Israel to hit him. Both Israel and his daughter were grazed by bullets bet 1775 and 1783 in South Carolina.16

The will was prvd 24 Mar 1800 and the letters of administration were issued to Jacob Gauntt and James Gauntt I that day. The estate inventory was done on 29 Mar 1800 and the estate sale was 24 Apr 1800. He left substantial property to his sons.22

On 22 Nov 1835 his widow, second wife Mary, went before the judge to swear that the feathers in the bed tick belong to her father R. Eckls (Eckles). The appraisal of the estate was done on 21 Dec 1835. Philip H. Crotwell was mentioned as a possible appraiser in the warrant but did not participate. He, Robert Neel, and James Gauntt were among the buyers at the estate sale. In 1837 the amount for distribution to heirs was $2,020.21. The widow got her third ($673.40) and the rest was distributed to his eight children at $222.50 each. The children by his first wife were Mark, Luke, Janet (w/o James Gauntt II), Sophia (w/o Robert Neel), Hannah (w/o Clement Jackson), and Phoebe (w/o Andrew Nates). Children by his second wife, both minors, were Karen and Carbo.15,5
